RF hangs especially early on in a new retopolgy session #1452
Comments
I relaunched Blender, checked the file to be sure it was ok (didn't launch RF) and quit and Blender crashed without ever running RF. Maybe the crash log useful. Thanks for the report! @Brett-StrayThought

It's consistent, especially when starting a new retopo for the first few operations. Once you get past that it seemed stable. So I have manually removed all the extensions/addons, restarted Blender and made sure it's clean. I lost a lot of time past 24 hours so don't have time to try the cube at the moment. But I will try to find time to retest this and report back if I do. |
Thanks for the quick answer! |
Bad thing the console in the video does not show any exception from the addon, but the Blender internal log info does bring some information about what happened. It first looks like the addon is trying to access to some invalid data via the Blender Python API, but we are seeing no exceptions in the addon side or Blender console and only internal Blender errors from the logger along with freezing behavior, this more closely matches a bug in the Blender Python API itself or a memory corruption.

Requested by support to open an issue. I have a simple file of about 12k faces and when I launch RF and draw the first edge loop, it soon seems to hang/crash. Once I get going and get a few strips defined it seems stable. E.g. it crashed/hung 3-4 times in first 5 minutes, then worked for several hours with no issues. This happened multiple times in multiple tests. In the attached video as my mouse moves around I'm clicking and it's completely hung. No beachball, but Blender shows at not responding. Switching out of Blender and back, then beachball appears. RF 3.4.5, Blender 4.3.2, macOS 15.3.1, MacBook Pro M3 Max.
