A PHP7 compatibility is necessary because more and more webpages and web servers are set to PHP7.

The following error occurs for example:

'Function name must be a string' thrown in /system/modules/doctrine-dbal/config/services.php on line 147

Why isn't this fix not yet part of the master branch?

The last commit to the master branch was 2 years ago, though @baumannsven seems to be still active in general.
