Hi,

today I tried to build an older version of davx5 (v4.3.16.1-ose). This failed with the following message:

 Task :app:checkOseDebugDuplicateClasses FAILED

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

* What went wrong:
Execution failed for task ':app:checkOseDebugDuplicateClasses'.

Indeed, this jar file no longer exists. Do you have any clues, why this file was removed?

Hi, this should not be a jar file, but a Gradle dependency from Jitpack. You can select the specific commit (eg b87d772e44) from here: https://jitpack.io/#bitfireAT/dav4jvm

It's possible that Jitpack does not hold old versions though.

Take into account that compiling the Jitpack version takes a bit, so sometimes it timeouts. Try again later, and it should work fine.

My point is, that this dependency has vanished and as a result you can no longer build old versions of davx5 whereas it worked previously.

If you run git checkout v4.3.16.1-ose ; ./gradlew assembleDebug you should be able to reproduce the problem.

I don't know why is it failing, according to Jitpack's API it should be correct (https://jitpack.io/api/builds/com.github.bitfireAT/dav4jvm/b87d772e44).

Is there any particular reason why you want to use an old version of DAVx⁵? We only give support to the latest one.

In any case, you can always compile the jar by yourself from the Github repo (https://github.com/bitfireAT/dav4jvm), and add it to DAVx⁵.

Being able to build previous versions (easily) is super helpful when running stuff like git bisect.

My main interest is to understand why jitpack stopped working for this particular version and if this can happen again anytime in the future.

Maybe the build just took some time (then the first tries to access the file will time out)? Or which is the specific commit that fails? As far as I know, the build log should always be available after a failed build.

Hmm maybe because of the different Java versions used to create the JAR? In that case the problem wouldn't be that the dependency is missing, but that it's incompatible. But it's only a guess.
