While I appreciate all the hard work that went into putting a video embed on the platform, much like Twitter and so many other platforms before it, I think Bsky is making a mistake by leaving audio artists/musicians/and other creators who primarily work in audio behind.
The overall community opinion is, we usually do not have the time, means, energy to also create a video edit or screen recording to go along with our audio work, even if for sharing a 30-second loop, or sharing a demo, or podcast snippet, it is required we convert our creation to a video clip just to share it online without using an external platform.
Given that web natively has audio embeds (and so many non-social media platforms, already support it widely, even with a waveform view, for decades) I don't understand why this isn't being put on the roadmap.
I, for one, as a web developer who is also an audio artist, am more than willing to contribute to writing this code, if it is put on the official roadmap. Instead of trying to create a web extension or TamperMonkey script or what have you, just to enable people to share audio without much effort.
there's already an issue open (not in discussions, yes I checked), and as part of the audio community, I know so many people who would use the platform more frequently, and get more use out of it, if the friction for sharing our work was lessened in this way.
