  • When else would you want alerts from the city - what events would be most valuable to you?
  • What are areas of interest for you in the city? Near your home? near your work? on your normal route to work?
  • What other situations would you want to track an area of special interest?

We currently have two datasets integrated with citygram:

  • Building Permits in Raleigh and Cary.
  • Police reports for Cary, Raleigh, and Durham
What other data are you interested in? See other comments below for ideas.

If you are in a group of 2 or more, consider doing a brainstorming and prioritization discussions and documenting your results in a comment below.

Nigel and I talked about some additional ideas:

  • Support regional geographic boundaries (pac districts in durham) - or maybe polygons? (seems less useful).
  • Show geographically relevant data right where the user is (on their phone in a restaurant, for instance)? (Nigel points out that you want to see this data when you are at the restaurant, or downtown — and not just seven days ago)
  • Provide better integration with custom providers - new york city, RTP, and...A way for providers to show their own customized reports, have some better control over how SMS and email reports look.
  • subscription management: ‘view your subscription’ doesn’t show you all your subscriptions.
  • better spec on the citygram for the interchange format - the current one on citygram seems limited or out of date.
  • Do people want to see data for a week or a month? Or perhaps the current day's/week's events within the context of last week/month.
  • Is there a use case for city employees to use citygram for notifications?
  • Change Citygram.org to look up your geographic location rather than requiring the user to explicitly choose a location - have citygram look up the closest city based on the viewers location.
