[MAC]: Agent upgrade failed for mac agent while upgrading from 7.17.21 BC1> 8.13.3 BC2. #4637

BUILD: 72204

Host OS: MAC Studio

Preconditions:

  1. 8.13.3 BC2 Kibana cloud environment should be available.
  2. 7.17.21 agent should be installed.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add 8.13.3 BC agent binary to the fleet settings: https://staging.elastic.co/8.13.3-f64df5ce/downloads/
  2. Trigger upgrade for 7.17.21 agent and observe agent upgrade failed for mac agent.

Expected Result:
Agent should upgrade successfully for mac agent while upgrading from 7.17.21 BC1> 8.13.3 BC2.

Hi @pierrehilbert

Yes, it could be related to this issue as MAC Studio also requires aarch64 artifacts from 8.13.0 onwards.

Yes I see defend in the policy, almost certainly this is related to #4613.

If you remove defend from the policy does it succeed? If so its a known issue.

Thank you for the update.

Yes, we have revalidated this by upgrading the agent from 7.17.21 BC1>8.13.3 BC2 without Elastic Defend and the agent upgraded successfully.
