you are right @bomeara, homonyms are tricky, all_matches=true would return also matches to Diptera, but the result would be 'muddy'. I wonder if a solution would be to add a filter limiting results to certain higher taxon, in this case Animalia? Such option (tx:) exists for example in https://github.com/gnames/gnverifier#advanced-search-query-language
Entering 'THE NEARCTIC SPECIES OF TENDIPEDINI - DIPTERA, TENDIPEDIDAE (= CHIRONOMIDAE)' via the API resolves Diptera (flies) as Saxifraga (a flower):
https://finder.globalnames.org/api/v1/find/THE%20NEARCTIC%20SPECIES%20OF%20TENDIPEDINI%20-%20DIPTERA%2C%20TENDIPEDIDAE%20%28%3D%20CHIRONOMIDAE%29?format=tsv&bytes_offset=false&return_content=false&unique_names=true&ambiguous_names=false&no_bayes=false&odds_details=false&language=eng&words_around=0&verification=true&all_matches=false
returns (see second row)
Homonyms are tough, but given the other words are for fly groups, it's odd it went with flowers rather than flies.
