Why did project stop?

When looking at advertisement, it looks like app was working in 2016, but now it's down

Can someone tell why an idea to shazam film didn't work?

This is a good question! Yes, we had a working prototype indeed. In short, I will point out 4 important bits why we stopped working on that.

1. Little demand. In reality, it is a very unlikely situation where someone noticed a movie, streaming or showing on a public screen, and they need to find out the title. Public screens and TVs rarely stream movies because of extra costs and no need. People usually are able to see the title next to the movie. Additionally, we were receiving such feedback that people were looking for one specific movie and such kind of situation happens once in a few years.
2. Outdated technology. We started the project when there were less resources available for Machine Learning. That is why we went with traditional hashing instead of ML. Now it might be more efficient to build it with latest ML models and AI technologies.
3. Tiredness in the team. After having worked a few years on the project, we started to lose focus and were devoting more and more time for ongoing important personal activities.
4. Legal challenges. This was an extra challenge for a small team. To be able to hash a huge database of movies, we should have had access to those movies, potentially paying huge license fees. This could be the case even for a limited Beta version. Of course, in this case, support from a big media company would have been much appreciated from the beginning.
