Is it possible to change the hex value of default colors?

To expand on Luca's answer a bit: there are two types of colors in TUI applications, standard palette colors (16 of them) and hex colors. Lazygit only uses standard palette colors by default (although you can override some of them with hex colors as shown above).

The definition of how palette colors map to actual hex colors is not under lazygit's control, you define this in whatever terminal emulator you are using. Most terminal emulators have some sort of preference window for picking the colors; Ghostty has a pretty nifty theme chooser.

Sorry I'm coming back to this. I'm using iTerm2. I tried changing the value for ANSI blue and I can see it changes the keybindings row color but I can't figure out how to change the dark blue.

I'm talking about the color of GP on the screenshot below for example:

I guess. It doesn't prevent this blue from being used for other users but at least I can make myself another color.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but the issue described above, where an author name like GP is in blue, is quite frustrating. It would be great if there were an option to exclude specific colors. Given lazygit’s overall theme, that particular shade doesn't seem ideal.

Would it be feasible to add a setting for this, or is there a workaround to prevent certain colors from being assigned?

Instead of wasting colors by excluding them, why don't you change it to something that is usable? Most terminal emulators have a way to tweak the color palette in their settings somehow.

As I tried to explain above, lazygit doesn't know anything about themes or shades.

I could not find the option on the wave terminal emulator but I did find the "Enforce minimum contrast" option on both the Windows Terminal and Warp terminal. Thanks for the suggestion. Solves the issue for me.
