From https://jupyterlab-deck.readthedocs.io/, jupyterlab-deck supports jupyterlite. I also think I remember deploying jupyterlab-deck on some jupyter-lite of mine.
Is jupyterlite-slideshow in it's current form supposed to support JupyterLite? I tried building a xeus-python-based jupyterlite with jupyterlab-slideshow listed in the pip dependencies in the environment.yml, but that did not seem to work: no button, no traces in the preferences, nor in the command palette. Could it be a limitation of installing through pip? Something else?
Thanks in advance!

Ah, never mind. Rubber duck strikes again. Writing the ticket made me look at the js console, and found an error about jupyterlab-fonts. I had tried to install it as conda package, but that was triggering incompatibility errors (presumably jupyterlab-fonts depends on jupyterlab which depends on jupyter-server). Installing jupyterlab-fonts by pip did the work.
