Hi!

Based on the discussion from the recent End User SIG meeting, creating this issue to check if we could expand OpenTelemetry's social media presence to include Instagram and TikTok, which not only could help reach wider audiences but also can help diversifying the content format creation.

Instagram and TikTok have different/diverse user bases with strong engagement (and daily active usage) among developers, tech enthusiasts, and potential new contributors, especially those who may not be as active on existing channels.

While OTel already has a YouTube channel, Instagram and TikTok can further enable short-form, highly digestible videos and Photo formats that cater to a broader audience and encourage quick learning and engagement. If we create YouTube shorts, these videos can be reused on Instagram(Reels) and Tiktok videos to widen reach.

Last but not the least, there is additional benefit of allowing for shorter content creation cycles. Using Instagram as an example, posting images requires way less time and effort comparing to producing a full-length high quality videos. This will enable End User SIG to provide more frequent updates, quick educational snippets , promote community events without the heavy production workload of video content.

Thanks for the consideration and I'm happy to help establish the account and processes!

I'm in favor of spreading the same content across multiple platforms! I doubt that instagram is worth spending energy into creating extra content for. But I would suggest looking at LinkedIn for short form image+text content, and then maybe reposting that content on insta.

Heya - we chatted about it and are generally OK with the idea of doing more image/short-form video stuff. There's some concern about community standards alignment with Meta platforms in general, so I would encourage you to ensure that you're also cross posting image/video content to other channels as well (such as Bluesky, LinkedIn, and YouTube)
