This is a ye old employee handbook and company guides. The collections of guidelines for how we work together at Wizard Development as humans (or wizards as the case may be).
Note: All of these are up for discussion and change as our needs will change over time. -Francis
As Wizard Development grows we'll be able to do more for each other. This document reflects what's in our abilities right now. It is the goal to have a comfortable working environment where we can spend our time thinking about learning, teaching and working instead of money, health and policies. This can only happen if our core needs are taken care of.
40 hours a week over 5 days. Hopefully by the end of next quarter we can move to a salary model. Currently 10-6, 1 Hour for lunch. Flexibility around errands, dr app's etc. We bill by the day, so we want to make sure to provide a day's worth of value to a customer.
- 1 day a week "improvement time"
- Weekly training sessions both internally and by bringing in experts
- Roof deck
- planned Health/Dental Insurance
- planned 401k
- planned Paid Vacation days
- planned Paid Conferences
- planned Gittip allowance
As a legal minimum we'll provide 1 hour paid time off per 30 hours worked. In practice that's an absurd way to account for sick days. If you are sick stay home with paid time off to get better. Don't get us sick, we'll see you soon and we'll miss you. Same goes for if you need to care for a sick family member. (Extraneous circumstances such as illnesses lasting over a few days, will be dealt with on a case by case basis within our abilities.) See NYC's Paid Sick Leave information..
Currently there is no paid vacation. You may take unpaid vacation as you wish. Please give as much notice as possible as your vacation will impact project timelines. We'll have at least two weeks paid vacation time once we move to a salaried model.
