-Added Delete Prefetch Files Using The Temp.bat File . When Running The Clear Temp You Will Be Prompted "Do You Want To Delete The Prefetch Files?" You Can Press Yes To Get Rid Of Prefetch Files Or No To Not Get Rid Of Prefetch Files.

Q&A

What Are Prefetch Files?

Location: Prefetch files are stored in the C:\Windows\Prefetch directory.

Purpose: These files are created to speed up the loading time of applications. When you open an application for the first time, Windows generates a prefetch file that contains information about the app's startup process, such as the necessary data and files.

Format: Prefetch files have a .pf extension and are named after the application they correspond to.

How Do Prefetch Files Work?

When you run an application, Windows uses its prefetch file to load it faster by preloading the necessary data into memory.

The system maintains up to 128 prefetch files. Once this limit is reached, older files are replaced with new ones based on usage.

Common Misconceptions

Not harmful: Prefetch files are not malicious or harmful; they help improve performance.

Do not delete frequently: Deleting prefetch files does not speed up your computer. On the contrary, it can temporarily slow things down because Windows will need to recreate the files when you launch applications.

When Should You Delete Them?

You generally do not need to delete prefetch files, but there are exceptions:

Troubleshooting issues: If you suspect a corrupted prefetch file is causing problems with an app.

Disk space concerns: If your system is extremely low on storage, though prefetch files typically take up minimal space.
