A quick solution for toggling the suspend modes in Ubuntu. Changing to deep suspend mode greatly decreases power usages while suspended. I use this on my laptop to save battery when I know I'm not going to need it for a while. It might work in other distros, but I haven't tested it.
Download the suspendmode
file and put it in /usr/local/bin
. Make sure you make it executable by running sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/suspendmode
.
Run sudo suspendmode
