Valhalla has a really nice tool for downloading elevation data by bbox.
OTP can use this data to produce better bike/walk directions.
Valhalla can also use this data, but the planet wide dataset is >1TB, so I'm not going to incorporate it yet. If someone would like to incorporate it for smaller areas via a flag, I'd be open to it.
