This seminar introduces the concept of serverless computing and its application to generative AI systems. The theoretical portion covers serverless architectures, event-driven computing, and their advantages for AI deployment. Students will understand how serverless platforms can automatically scale to handle varying loads of AI inference requests. The practical section demonstrates building a serverless generative AI application, including real-world examples from companies using serverless AI for content generation, image processing, and natural language tasks. Live coding demonstrations will show the implementation of a serverless AI endpoint.

Composable Systems are a new paradigm for building computer systems that aims at improving utilization of hardware, reducing energy consumption and enables the infrastructure to dynamically adapt to different incoming workloads, rather than the way around. However, this technology is not yet the state of the art for building data centers and it requires further efforts on the hardware, software and standardization initiatives.
