💻 ByteFix: Reliable Tech Solutions, Simplified

Table of Contents

Project Overview

This project creates a modern and engaging website for ByteFix, a tech solutions provider. Built with Gatsby, it follows brand guidelines in docs/BRAND_GUIDELINES.md to deliver a user-friendly experience that communicates ByteFix's core values.

Project Structure

The project is structured as follows:

  • gatsby-config.js: Gatsby configuration file, including plugins and site metadata.
  • src/: Contains the source code for the website.
    • components/: Reusable React components.
    • pages/: React components that represent different pages of the website.
      • index.js: The landing page for the website, implementing the ByteFix brand.
    • styles/: CSS files for styling the website.
      • global.css: Global CSS file containing CSS classes for the color palette, typography, and layout.
  • docs/: Directory containing project documentation.
    • BRAND_GUIDELINES.md: Contains the ByteFix brand guidelines.
    • GAMEPLAN.md: Contains the website update game plan and future improvement suggestions.
    • IMPORTANT.md: Contains important project rules and guidelines.
  • static/: Directory for static assets, such as images and fonts.

Technologies Used

  • Gatsby: A React-based static site generator.
  • React: A JavaScript library for building user interfaces.
  • CSS: Styling language for web pages.
  • Motion: A production-ready motion library for React.

Components

  • Header.js: The website's header component, including navigation links and a placeholder logo.
  • HeroSection.js: The hero section of the landing page, featuring the main heading, subheading, and call-to-action button.
  • ServicesSection.js: The services section of the landing page, displaying a grid of available services with icons and descriptions.
  • WhyChooseUsSection.js: The "Why Choose Us?" section of the landing page, highlighting the key benefits of choosing ByteFix.
  • TestimonialsSection.js: The testimonials section of the landing page, showcasing customer testimonials in a static list.
  • RepairRequestFormSection.js: The repair request form section of the landing page, allowing users to submit a repair request.
  • FooterSection.js: The footer section of the landing page, containing copyright information and links.
  • Layout.js: The main container for the page structure, housing all sections and importing global.css.

Setup Instructions

To run the website locally, follow these steps:

  1. Clone the repository:
    git clone [repository URL]
  2. Navigate to the project directory:
    cd ByteFix-Website
  3. Install dependencies:
    npm install
  4. Start the development server:
    gatsby develop
  5. Open the website in your browser at http://localhost:8000.

Current Status

The ByteFix website has been updated to reflect the brand guidelines and incorporate key features for improved user experience. The following updates have been implemented:

  • Visual Identity:
    • Implemented the ByteFix brand color palette (Primary Blue, Secondary Dark Gray, Accent Light Gray) using CSS classes in src/styles/global.css.
    • Integrated Montserrat (Bold) and Roboto (Regular) fonts via the gatsby-plugin-google-fonts plugin.
    • The Header component includes a placeholder logo.
  • Component-Based Structure:
    • The landing page (src/pages/index.js) is now structured using separate components for each section: Header, HeroSection, ServicesSection, WhyChooseUsSection, TestimonialsSection, RepairRequestFormSection, and FooterSection.
    • The main content of the index page has been moved to a Layout component (src/components/Layout.js).
  • Functionality:
    • Implemented a sticky header for improved navigation.
    • Implemented smooth scrolling for navigation links and the hero section button.
    • The testimonial section now displays all testimonials statically.
    • Implemented a basic repair request form with client-side validation.
